Kildalkey 2-14 Clann Na nGael 0-15
Kildalkey's junior hurlers qualified for the semi finals of the JHC 2 on Friday night thanks to this 5 point win over their neighbours Clann Na Gael.
This game was a credit to both teams as it was played in a great spirit and had some great passages of play.
Long serving Tony Fox got the men in blue up and running from a free and within a minute Colm Kane had the net shaking but the Athboy men hit back and drew level at 1-1 to 0-4 Conor Smith hit a point and further scores from Jordan Walsh, Micheal Potterton, Fox, Johnny Murray and Fintan Mcloughlin left it 1-7 to 0-11 at half time.
The second half was point for point as the game ebbed and flowed Tony Fox found the mark five times and the impressive Cathal Reynolds got the score of the game.
Club Chairman and veteran Nick Fitzgerald then entered the fray and was at the end of yet another brilliant run from deep from Reynolds to score the decisive goal he The Meath minor manager quickly added a point from play to his tally as Fox hit the last 2 frees to seal the win and put his team in the semi finals.
Kildalkey had some great displays all over the field with Cathal Egan and Michael Potterton solid in the centre of the defence young Cathal Reynolds driving forward at every opportunity and Tony Fox, David Brady and Fitzgerald using all their years of experience up front in a great team performance with 9 different scorers.
