MHC 'B' quarter-finals: Meath in 61-point win as Kildare pip Kerry
12 August 2017
The scoreboard ran out of numbers for Meath as they actually put 14-25 past Sligo
This afternoon's All-Ireland MHC 'B' quarter-finals witnessed two close games and two very one-sided affairs.
In Dr Hyde Park, Kildare edged out Kerry by 1-14 to 1-12. Four unanswered points late in the first half helped the wind-assisted Kingdom to a 0-9 to 0-6 interval lead and they looked set for victory when Gavin Dooley's 40th minute goal made it 1-10 to 0-7 in their favour. But Kildare fought back to level through a Sean Cullen goal before wing back Harry Carroll's late point sealed their victory.
Armagh were also narrow winners over Roscommon (1-16 to 2-12) at the Athletic Grounds, but the other two quarter-finals were woefully lop-sided.
Meath posted a massive 61-point win (14-25 to 0-6) over a hapless Sligo side in Trim, while Down trounced Donegal by 10-24 to 1-12 in Portaferry.
