Kilmessan ran out easy winners over neighbours Trim in this Ted Murtagh SHC round four clash at Pairc Tailteann on Friday night.

Kilmessan ...... 4-18
Trim ........... 1-13

Following on from their dramatic loss to Dunboyne in the previous round, this result revives Kilmessan's campaign and avenges the manner they exited last year's Jubilee Cup race at the hands of Trim.

The scores were tied four times in the opening 20 minutes before Kilmessan pushed on to record their third win of the campaign.

Both teams will probably advance to the knockout stages, but the manner in which Kilmessan won here will boost their bid for outright honours.

The only as aspect of the game in which Trim outdid Kilmessan here was in the sartorial stakes, as it proved very difficult to identify members of the winning team.

Trim's Damien McGee with Eoin Marsh Kilmessan

Trim responded well to Kevin Keena's 14th minute goal that made it 1-2 to 0-3. The team in red regained parity twice subsequently. They even hit the front again courtesy of Aaron McGee's 19th minute free (0-6 to 1-2).

Kilmessan doubled their tally inside the next two minutes with Darren Reilly getting their goal to leave it 2-4 to 0-6. Diligent defending by Colm McGrath denied Kilmessan a third goal before the break.

Kilmessan went on to lead by 2-6 to 0-9 at half-time and looked good to kick-on and take the spoils. Within two minutes of resumption, they were seven points ahead, 3-7 to 0-9.

Joey Keena bagged his side's third goal after Trim 'keeper Charlie Ennis saved his initial shot. Kilmessan were eight points clear by the 40th minute when Malcolm Doyle pointed from distance.

Kilmessan's Martin Horan gets in his pass as Arnie McGee Trim closes in during the Meath SHC clash at Pairc Tailteann.

Trim were thrown a lifeline when Neil Heffernan's delivery broke to Brian Dowling who goaled to make 3-9 to 1-10. Kilmessan responed to outscore their neighbours by 1-9 to 0-3 in the final third.

The game was entering stoppage time when Kilmessan 'keeper Chris Curtis denied Peter Farrell a goal. Aaron McGee pointed the subsequent 65.

In added time the winners added 1-2 with Joey Keena getting the goal to emerge as the fixture's top scorer with 2-3

Despite playing into the breeze blowing from the old swimming pool end, it under 20 seconds for Kevin Keena to get Kilmessan off the mark.

Trim's James Toher with Steven Clynch Kilmessan

The scores were tied twice in the opening seven minutes, before James Toher pointed excellently from distance in the ninth minute. He then picked up a knock but quickly resumed and played on until the 54th minute when he limped off

In round five, Trim face Ratoath while Kilmessan take on Longwood.
