IFC: First win for Kilmainham

Kilmainham's Mickey Newman

Kilmainham got their first win of the 2017 Championship by beating Ballinabrackey on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-11.
Mickey Newman opened the scoreline with 2 frees leaving his team leading by 0-02 to 0-01 after 7 minutes. Ballinabrackey responded and drew level. With a curling wind in Pairc Tailteann it took Kilmainham 17minutes to record their first score from play coming from Freddie Newman. This was quickly followed by 2 points from Mickey Newman and 1pt from Denis Newman to leave Kilmainham leading 0-06 to 0-03 t the break .

The 2nd half started as the first half finished with Denis Newman slotting over his 2nd point of the day after 30 seconds.
Ballinabrackey fought back well and drew level 0-07 a piece after 7 minutes. Kilmainham didn't hang their heads and fought tirelessly with the ever impressive Paul Farrelly growing in confidence as the half progressed.

Points from Mickey Newman, Ger and Shane Morgan left Kilmainham with a 2 point lead heading into the final quarter.
Full back Richie Brady found himself with a scoring opportunity and he didn't disappoint as he slotted over to leave it 0-11 to 0-09 with 10 minutes remaining.
Kilmainham lost Paul Farrelly to injury but sub Mark Newman slotted over a great point to leave the final score 0-13 to 0-11.
Very hard to pick individuals as the team worked hard for each other, tackled hard and fought hard in a game that could have boiled over on numerous occassions.
