Kilmainham recorded their 2nd win from 2 outings by overcoming Clonard in this Junior D championship game played at Athboy.

Clonard started the brighter of the two sides, racing into an early two point lead but it was from the second kick out that Matthew Mullen won the ball raced forward passing it to Tom Monaghan and Mullen continued his run received the ball again and delightfully planted the ball in the back of the net.

In the space of 90 seconds Kilmainham had extended their advantage to five points as full forward Davy Farnan deflected a cross from Colm McGivern into the back of the net. 

There was solid defending from Kilmainham to ensure their opponents at bay. Eoin Mc Grane doubled the lead with a goal of his own. Farnan and McGvern put the ball over the bar and Johnny Quinlan popped over a free, leaving it 3-03 to 0-05 at the break.

Kilmainham continued to dominate with Davy Farnan finding the net once more. Johnny Quinlan converted another free. Clonard continued to score some splendid points. Kilmainham played the last 12 minutes with 14 men when  keeper Declan nelson was red carded. They regrouped and kept possession working the ball up the field where Paddy Hennigan and Philly Mahon pointed. 

The last score of the game came from Kilmainham's youthful Matty Mulroe who was fouled, he composed himself and slotted the ball over the bar. Final score Kilmainham 4-07 Clonard 0-11
