Na Fianna's Peter Slevin

Na Fianna 1-14, Wolfe Tones 2-10

Na Fianna recorded their 2nd win from 2 outings by overcoming Wolfe Tones in this intermediate hurling championship game played at Kildalkey.

Having recorded a comprehensive victory over Kilmessan in the earlier round, Na Fianna overcome a three point half time deficit to win by the minimum of margins.

Wolfe Tones opened the scoring with a free but Na Fianna replied with 5 points from Barry Slevin (3f) and one each from Cian Slattery and Ronan Byrne. Eoin Reilly did well to divert a Wolfe Tones goal bound effort over the bar and Na Fianna replied with a Mark Slevin point. Wolfe Tones then got 2 goals in between pointed efforts by Ronan Byrne and Barry Slevin to leave the teams level with 5 minutes remaining in 1st half. It was Wolfe Tones however who finished the 1st half strongly with the last 3 points to lead 2-5 to 0-8 at the break.

Two early frees from Wolfe Tones and one by Barry Slevin stretched Wolfe Tones lead to 4. Eoin Gorry then hit 1-1 to draw the sides level. The next 6 points were shared by both teams with Barry & Mark Slevin & Sean Coffey accounting for the Na Fianna scores. Peter Slevin was to have the final say of the game as his point from the left wing saw Na Fianna claim a hard earned 1 point victory on a final scoreline of 1-14 to 2-10.
