Simonstown 2-7 Gael Colmcille 1-10

Simonstown salvaged a draw with a last kick free from Padraig McKeever in this A League Div 1 Round 7 match played on Wednesday evening in Simonstown.

The Navan men aided by the cold spring wind raced into 1-2 to 0-0 after 6 minutes with the goal from Padraig McKeever after a good team play. There were 17 minutes gone when the Kells men registered their first point.The Kells men came more into game and as the half time approached they were just 1-5 to 0-4 in arrears . Then Shane O Rourke finished to the Kells net for the Navan men after a sublime defence splitting long kicked pass from Brian Mc Grath to leave Simontown leading at the break by 7 points 2-5 to 0-4 while also having registered 7 wides.

Gael Colmcille made a concerted effort at start of second half scoring 6 points in 17 minutes to just one for Simonstown to leave the score board reading 2-6 to 0-10. With Kells dominating play their goal duly arrived in 21st minute to put them one up 1-10 to 2-6 one point lead for first time. A period of stale mate followed as one team sought the equaliser and the other sought to extend their lead but as final whistle approached Simonstown won a free about 45 metres out and Padraig McKeever duly converted for Simonstown second score of the half.
