HL Div 4: Trip to Killyon proves fruitless for Drumree

19 April 2017

Drumree's Rob Lyons

Drumree 0-15 Killyon 1-15

Drumree's second team made the long trip to Killyon for this league clash which was an entertaining opening game.

The men in the red & white hoops were under pressure from the off with 3 quick Killyon points but they showed great desire & work rate throughout this encounter to stick with their opponents. First half points from Liam Shanley, Keith Rooney & Ronan Gilsenan kept them right in contention at the interval with the score line reading 10 points to 7 to the Killyon men.

It was more of the same in the second half with Killyon keeping Drumree at arms length with some vital scores each time Drumree got their lead down to the minimum. More second half points from Carey, Shanley and Rob Lyons had Drurmee believing they could push on & snatch a win here but Killyon were to strike for the decisive goal half way through the second half.

A great effort throughout by the Drumree lads however it was the men from the hill of down who would collect the points on offer with a 3 point victory.

Plenty of solid performances with Eoin Reilly, Paul Kiernan, Liam Shanley & Liam Carey all putting in big performances for Drumree.
