Kildalkey Report

Dunboyne 3-16 Kildalkey 3-15

Kildalkey started off their Division 1HL on Saturday against Dunboyne.

The game ended in controversy as both Kildalkey and Dunboyne officials had the game ending in a draw 3-16 each but referee Mick Ryan deemed it a one point win for Dunboyne 3-16 to 3-15 with both camps very surprised by the verdict.

Kildalkey started well and a goal from Padraig Keogh and a point from young Evan Fitzgerald got the blues up and running. Further points followed from Sean Heavey Eoin Potterton Luke Rickard and 4 Conor Kearney frees  but Dunboyne kept in touch mainly from Kildalkey's indiscipline with 5 of their 6 points coming from placed balls with Sean Quigley accurately slotting them over.

A late Gary Kelly goal gave the village a cushion as they led 2-8 to 1-6 at the break.

Sean Heavey got the ball rolling in the second half with a long range score.

Paddy Coneely chipped in with 1-1 and Evan Fitzgerald score 2 more points from play as Kearney hit 4 more frees while all the time Dunboyne wouldn't go away Quigley hitting 6 more frees and 2 late goals from full forward Michael Dunne kept Dunboyne in the game.

Evan Fitzgerald floated what everyone thought was the equalising score but it wasn't to be.
