Club football season kicks in this weekend

A win for Wolfe Tones over Na Fianna in the Division 1 league would guarantee them a place in the final

The Meath club season begins this weekend with three preliminary rounds fixed in the Feis Cup and Corn Na Boinne.

Summerhill take on St Pats at home. When these two met in last years championship the Hill recorded a comfortable 4-14 to 0-8 last September. They also met three weeks later in the Division 1 football league semi final. Summerhill recorded another win on a 3-12 to 1-11 scoreline.

Tony Kearney has returned to Wolfe Tones and they entertain Na Fianna at Kilberry. When these two met in the league last year they shared 8 goals with the visitors Na Fianna coming out on top 5-11 to 3-11. They also crossed paths in last years hoganstand.com Meath senior football championship. Na Fianna again held the upper hand in a high scoring encounter 3-15 to 0-15 at Pairc Tailteann.

Nobber put Corn Na Boinne titles back to back in 2014 and 2015. They begin their quest for a third title at home to Kilmainham. It will be an interesting evening for new Nobber manager John Tiernan who has spend the previous five years in charge of Kilmainham.
