A motion from the Kilmainhamwood club proposing a new format for the Meath JFC was successful at Monday night's first County Committee meeting of the year at Dunganny.

In the three groups of six teams one of them will be made up entirely of second teams. As well as junior B winners St Vincent's, Moynalty (who chose to go up) are also promoted while 'relegated' Clonard retain their status.

There were eight second teams in the 2016 JFC and two will be relegated to JFC B for 2017. The CCC will decide under association rules as to which clubs will make the drop to Junior B.

Although Skryne opposed the motion, the consensus appeared to be that some first teams can be at a disadvantage facing second sides in the earlier rounds before players are promoted to the senior grade.

In the Junior B FC the small number of first teams will be kept together in the same group and no first team will be relegated from the JFC B.

The new formats will come into operation for the 2017 championships.
