Meath GAA Awards: top gongs for O'Rourke and Toher

December 05, 2016

Simonstown's Shane O'Rourke

Shane O'Rourke's major contribution to Simonstown's inaugural hoganstand.com Meath SFC success has been recognised with the Meath GAA 'Footballer of the Year' accolade.

Meath GAA has unveiled its list of award winners for 2016 and O'Rourke, whose inter-county career has been curtailed by a catalogue of injuries, is a deserving recipient.

The same can be said for Meath's Christy Ring Cup winning captain James Toher who has been chosen as the 'Hurler of the Year'.

James Conlon (St Colmcille's) and Gavin McGowan (Ratoath) have been selected as 'Young Footballer of the Year' and 'Young Hurler of the Year' respectively while 'Club of the Year' goes to Donaghmore/Ashbourne.

All the winners will be presented with their awards at a presentation night which will take place in Castle Arch Hotel, Trim this Friday.
