Perfect control for Ratoath against Baconstown in the Division 1 camogie final

Ratoath SPS won back the Allianz Meath Cumann Na mBunscol Division 1 camogie title, a crown they last held in 2014 with this narrow win over a very good Baconstown team.

Ratoath SPS 3-3 Baconstown 1-5

Baconstown were hoping to make amends for last year's final defeat but it was Ratoath who made all the early running and were 2-1 to 0-0 up after ten minutes. Molly Keane got the opening score and Sara Sheehan and Caoimhe Heffernan followed with the goals. Baconstown fought back and 1-2 from the outstanding Becky Forde saw them go in at the break 3-1 to 1-2 behind.

The second half was a fairly even affair. The Ratoath defence stood firm to deny Baconstown the goals they needed. Forde narrowed the gap early on but points from Roisin Flynn and Laura Kelly kept Ratoath in front and they held on for victory and Division 1 title number 7. The girls in Yellow and Blue won 6 consecutive titles between 2009 and 2014.

After the game Ratoath SPS captain Laura Kelly was presented with the Division 1 Camogie Cup.
