The Minor Hurling Championship and the Tony Donnelly cup will be heading to a new home this year after Trim beat holders and league winners Na Fianna in a thrilling semi-final. Kildalkey are also hitting form at exactly the right time and their goal scoring ability overcame a very strong Killyon/Longwood side in their semifinal.

A significant number of this year's Meath minor panel which reached the All Ireland Minor B final vs Kerry are on opposing sides on Sunday. The Trim team includes county players Charlie Ennis, Jamie Leavy, Mikey Cullen, Peter Farrell, David Murtagh, Brian Dowling, and Evan Buckley - while Kildalkey can call on Brin Kelly, James McNally, Evan Fitzgerald, Conor Hayes, and Nicky Potterton.

It is fantastic for this years players that the Minor Championship final is paired with the Senior final for the first time since 2005. Coincidentally those 2005 finals played in Trim were successful for both of this years senior finalists with Peter Durnin picking up the minor cup for Kiltale - while Killyon beat Kildalkey in the senior final.

Predicting the outcome of the Minor final which throws in at 1.30pm in Pairc Tailteann is extremely hard. Trim have a very strong and balanced panel which have been consistently competitive over the last few years - and their semi final win over Na Fianna should make them slight favourites. But Kildalkey's momentum since winning the Div 2 league title earlier in the year has been very impressive and their goal scoring threat could pose real problems for Trim.
