MFC Div 4: Michaels / Nobber turn on the style in second half

September 28, 2016

Cormac Clarke and Scott Doyle set up an attack for St. Michael / Nobber during the MFC game against Killary Emmets in Nobber

St. Michaels / Nobber 1-11, Killary Emmets 1-6

The St. Michaels / Nobber combination turned on the style in the second half of this match in Nobber last evening to book themselves a place in the semi-final. After a lack luster opening 30 minutes Killary Emmets built up a 1-5 to 0-3 half time lead as the home side could manage only three points, all from frees and all from the boot of Jordan Morris.

The home side piled on the pressure right from the restart and were on level terms 13 minutes into the half after points from Shane McDonnell (0-2), Thomas Murtagh, Shane McCormack and Jordan Morris (0-1 each). McDonnell put his side into the lead for the first time on 50 minutes, however Killary Emmets levelled matters once more a minute later with what proved to be their only score of the second half.

One apiece from Jordan Morris and Cian Sheridan put the home side two in front with four minutes left on the clock. St. Michaels / Nobber lost Shane McDonnell at this point through a second yellow, however it mattered little at this stage as Thomas Murtagh won a throw-in and found Patrick Tobin in space and Tobin rounded the keeper and blasted to the bottom corner of the net for the final score of the match.
