The Ratoath Junior hurlers unbeaten run in 2016 run came to an emphatic end over the least seven days.
Following a sobering defeat to a very sharp Trim second string last weekend the Ratoath second string went down narrowly in a trademark battling performance against Boardsmill in Kilberry.
Ratoath went in trailing 2-5 to 2-2 at the break with two breathtakingly good saves from Gavin Hattie the highlight of the half. The dominant play of centre back Paul Kirwan was a feature of this Ratoath performance and Tommy Cooper also rolled back the years with a spirited performance in the full forward line. In the end though a stronger Boardsmill outfit won out on a score line of 4-9 to 4-3. The Ratoath Juniors though still have plenty to play for in 2016 and now go on to a county semi-final on the weekend of October 15/16.
