KILLARY EMMETS 7-12 WOLFE TONES 4-7

ATTACKERS were very much on top as Killary Emmets saw off the challenge of neighbours Wolfe Tones in this refixed under-16 summer league final at Dunganny.

Five of the games 11 goals arrived in the first half with the opener coming within four minutes of the start when Killian Price blasted to the net.

The Syddan/Castletown combination led throughout and were 14 points clear in the third quarter before Tones staged a mini revival to close the gap to seven points.

Killary reasserted their authority in the closing stages however and outscored their opponents 2-2 to a single point.

Paul Bellew and Stephen Tallon also found the net for Killary in the first half as they led 3-7 to 2-4 at the break. Jason Carr was on target with both Wolfe Tones goals in the opening 30 minutes.

Substitute Jodi Donoghue continued the goal fest within four minutes of coming on in the second half and Padraic Dillon added another shortly afterwards.

Tones hit back with a goal from a close range free from Oisin Corrigan and then Carr completed his hat-trick before the end of the third quarter.

However Tones only added another point to their tally after that as Killary finished much the stronger.

Ben Blakemore took his tally of points to five while Paul Bellew added to his goal haul with two late strikes to put the issue beyond doubt.

After the match minor secretary Aidan Jordan present the shield to joint captains Evan Hoey and Stephen Tallon.
