JHC: Kilmessan overcome Na Fianna

July 27, 2016

Na Fianna: 2-10
Kilmessan: 4-19

Kilmessan produced a strong second half showing to see off Na Fianna in Boardsmill on Monday evening in this JHC round three game.

The sides were level at half time with the impressive full forwards Conor Downey and Daniel Queeney in great scoring form. Downey hit a goal and a point in the half while Queeney hit four points. Marty Dixon and Michael Collins led the defence impressively while Mark Kelly and Dean Henrick held sway at midfield, and Cian Slattery created lots of chances for the forwards. However, two softly conceded goals to Kilmessan ensured that they were level with Na Fianna at half time 2-05 to 1-08.

Kilmessan hit seven points in a row in the opening ten second half minutes to put paid to the Na Fianna challenge. A Conor Downey goal was not enough to bring Na Fianna back into the game as Kilmessan kicked on and collected a deserved win.

Na Fianna had excellent performances from Conor Downey, Daniel Queeney, Cian Slattery, Niall Burke, Mark Kelly, Dean Henrick and Marty Dixon.

Na Fianna: Cha Loughlin, Rob Gleeson, Marty Dixon, Michael Collins, Joe McGuinness, Niall Burke, Tiernan McCloskey, Dean Henrick (0-1), Mark Kelly (0-1), Damien Downey, Cian Slattery, Eoin Gorry (0-1, f), Conor Downey (2-02), Daniel Queeney (0-5), Martin Kelly.
