IHC: Wolfe Tones got their first win in the Intermediate Hurling Championship with this six point defeat of Donaghmore Ashbourne in Paddy O'Brien Park. Last years finalist drew with Ratoath in their opening round fixture.
For long periods in this game it looked as if The Moores might come away from the Navan venue with something to show for their efforts.
A fine goal from Danny Deery gave Donaghmore Ashbourne a 1-5 to 0-5 lead after 20 minutes. But Wolfe Tones battled back and went in at the break on level terms 1-6 apiece thanks to a goal from the penalty spot from Eanna Harrington.
Wolfe Tones played all the hurling in the second half and tagged on nine points to Donaghmore Ashbourne's three to run out deserving winners.
