Seneschalstown's Chrystal Delamere.

Seneschalstown 3-8 Skryne 2-13

Seneschalstown went under Skryne in this vital Div. 2 game played in good conditions in Fr Tully Park. A win for either side would progress the winners into the semi-finals but alas it wasn't to be for the Furze Girls on this occasion.

Skryne got the opening two points inside the first 5 minutes but the Furze girls responded in kind with two fine points from Shona Loughran and Chrystal Delamere respectively by the tenth minute. Skryne got the first goal of the game of the rather fortunate variety in the twelfth minute. However, two minutes later Loughran found the net for the home team to evens thing up and from there until half time the home team dominated proceedings. Loughran then added a point before Delamere drove the ball to the back of the Skryne net.

With the backs were working hard repelling any Skryne attacks and midfield winning most balls in that area, the forwards were getting a constant supply of ball and were taking advantage on the score board. Loughran added to her tally before Ava Jane Ryan pointed from play to increase he lead. Sorcha Gough was next on the score sheet with the home sides third goal before Loughran again pointed from play to leave the score at 3-6 to 1-3 at the break.

After a superb opening 30 minutes, it all went wrong after the break. Skryne started the better and got three early points and while the home team had some attacks some wayward passing and decision making were costing them. Delamere popped up with a point in the thirty seventh minute. Skryne then struck for a goal which got them right back into the game and the kicked on to score 4 unanswered points to draw level.

The exertions of Mondays 2015 Minor semi-final were beginning to tell on the legs of some of the home team players and Skryne went two points in front with less than 10 minutes to play. Katie Geraghty then pointed for the home but Skryne went straight back down the field to increase the lead to two with time running out. The Furze girls didn't give up and the Skryne goalie made an excellent save from Delamere, Aoife Mulvany then hit the post with a snap shot and after a goalmouth scramble from the rebound Ava Jane Ryan saw her ground shot fizz narrowly wide. The long whistle sounded shortly afterwards on a disappointing outcome.
