Popular Meath Chronicle sports journalist Fergal Lynch picked up a MacNamee Award at Croke Park on Friday night.

Fergal won the Provincial Media Award for his feature interview piece with Alan Nestor.  The Blackhall Gaels and former Meath player told of his cancer battle, recovery and determination to return to Gaelic football.

The MacNamee Awards are presented annually by the GAA in recognition of outstanding contributions made by individuals and Association units in the area of media and communications.

Meath PRO Martin O'Halloran, a MacNamee Award winner himself for the 2013 SFC county final programme, was among those who was at the presentation on Friday night.

Fergal, who is from a well known Trim family, joined the Meath Chronicle in 1997 having previously worked with the sales team in our Kells offices for Royal County, the Meath GAA Yearbook and Hogan Stand magazine.

Well done to Fergal on what was a proud night for Meath GAA.
