Na Fianna 0-13 St Peter's Dunboyne: 0-8

Na Fianna came away from Dunboyne with the points on Saturday afternoon in an excellent team performance. A workmanlike first half display saw them lead 0-6 to 0-3 at half time with tigerish defending providing the platform for the lead.

Will Flynn opened the Na Fianna scoring when winning the ball in front and turning to point. Corner back Sean Coffey got forward to slot a lovely point while Ethan Devine was on target with three points including two frees. Sean Martin was leading the line from full forward and he got the final score of the half for Na Fianna.

Na Fianna were the more economical team in the second half but were helped by an excellent save from Connor Heffernan when a Dunboyne forward was one on one with him. Jack McNally kicked a fine score, followed by another Ethan Devine free. Dunboyne cut the lead to one point but the impressive Ronan Byrne got a deserved point while Luke McNally cut inside the defence to calmly tap over. Two more Ethan Devine points and a sensational point in the dying minutes from Daniel Devine helped Na Fianna to an opening round win in a performance where all players excelled.
