Ratoath celebrate with the Mattie McDonnell Cup

A hectic weekend of knockout football saw Ratoath claim intermediate honours while the senior and junior finaists were decided. We pick our team of the week.

1. Christopher O'Reilly (Nobber)
Produced a string of fine saves to keep down Ratoath's winning margin on a disappointing day for the North Meath club at Pairc Tailteann.

2 Johnny Baldwin (Na Fianna)
Another outstanding display from the tight marking, tough tackling defender. Never afraid to venture forward and blotted out numerous Gaeil Colmcille attacks.

3 Conor McGill (Ratoath)
A commanding display on the edge of the square from the county man. Totally negated the influence of Nobber danger man Brian Farrell on a historic day for the south Meath outfit

Darragh Smyth with Ronan Jones

4 Daragh Smyth (Navan O'Mahonys)
A key player for the holders. Always on hand to do his defensive duties and does serious damage to the opposition going forward. Scored two fine points against St Peters.

5 David Toner (Curraha)
Repeatedly brought the game forward into the Bective half as Curraha qualified for the junior final after extra time.

6 Conor Downey (Na Fianna)
One of the footballers of the year. Solid and composed yet again and as usual his ventures forward yielded scores. Sent over two points against Kells.

Conor Doran celebrates his goal

7 Conor Doran (Dunboyne)
In the running for the man on the match in the semi-final clash. Gave the Navan defence plenty of problems and was his team's second top scorer with a goal and two points.

8 Cian O'Brien (Ratoath)
Was our man of the match in the intermediate final. The best midfielder on display at Pairc Tailteann over the weekend.

9 Ronan Jones (Dunboyne)
More than held his own in the middle of the park against a much more experienced Navan O'Mahonys midfield. The county minor is a real star for the future.

Another score from Danny Queeney

10 Daniel Queeney (Na Fianna)
A joy to watch the half forward in action. That trusty left boot broke Gaeil Colmcille's hearts as he sent over six points including four great efforts from play.

11 Donal Lenihan (Dunboyne)
Will wonder how he ended up on the losing team. The Navan defence could not cope with the county man. He was at the heart of most of their good work and weighed in with eight points.

12 Alan Forde (Navan O'Mahonys)
Another fine hour for the wing forward who has a brilliant work rate. He scored two points and his second was a joy to watch as he won possession in midfield before racing through the Peters defence to fist the ball over the bar.

James McEntee closes in on the Bective goal

13 James McEntee (Curraha)
The classy two footed McEntee kicked 1-3 and looked a cut above the junior grade in their extra time win over Bective under lights at Simonstown.

14 Dalton McDonagh (Na Fianna)
Gaeil Colmcille simply had no answer to his pace and power. Scored 1-4 as Na Fianna qualified for their second Keegan Cup final in three years.

15 Joey Wallace (Ratoath)
Scored four excellent points and had a hand in the game's only goal as Ratoath captured the Mattie McDonnell Cup at Pairc Tailteann.

Joey Wallace skips away from the Nobber defence
