Meath midfielder Adam Flanagan will be out for at least nine months after picking up a cruciate injury.
The budding star picked up the dreaded injury playing for his club Clonard in a league game against Dunsany last Wednesday. Clonard, managed by former Meath great Kevin Foley lost that game 1-12 to 1-8.
Under Mick O'Dowd Flanagan made his league debut in the opening round of this years NFL Division 2 against Galway in Peasre Park. He partnered Harry Rooney in midfield to earn his championship debut against Wicklow in the Leinster SFC quarter final at Pairc Tailteann.
Eamonn Wallace and Conor Gillespie retuned to the Meath squad this season after been out with the same injury.
