FL Div 1: Na Fianna finish campaign with a win

July 30, 2015

Na Fianna's Dalton McDonagh

Na Fianna: 3-11
Dunshaughlin: 0-18

Na Fianna welcomed Dunshaughlin to Enfield on Wednesday evening and earned a good win in a hard fought game. It was an ideal opportunity for Na Fianna to get back on track after a disappointing Feis Cup final loss on Sunday and Dunshaughlin, already assured of a place in the league final gave a good battle to the hosts.

Na Fianna led by 1-08 to 0-8 at half time with the goal coming from Dalton McDonagh. Corner back John Baldwin got a fine point from the right wing, while wing back Dean Henrick got a point cutting in from the left. Daniel Queeney claimed three points with Damien Downey also adding one.

The pace of the game was upped in the second half with Dunshaughlin piling on the pressure. Conor Downey was fouled for two penalties with Dalton McDonagh converting the first after his effort was originally saved. Daniel Queeney took over the duties for the second penalty and duly drove it high to the net. Queeney's penalty came in the final minutes and put Na Fianna up by two. Dunshaughlin replied but corner back James Geagan closed the game out with a fine left footed point to give Na Fianna the win.
Na Fianna had fine performances from Michael Collins, James Geagan Lee Hyland, Anthony Neary, Ethan Devine, Daniel Queeney and Dalton McDonagh.
