Full Time: Drumree 2-14 Wolfe Tones 0-07

Drumree recorded a comprehensive victory over Wolfe Tones in this round 4 Junior Hurling Championship match played in a very well turned out Athboy.

The match was a lot closer for long periods than the score line may suggest until Drumree finally pulled away in the last 20 minutes.

The first half was a tight affair as both sides struggled to get into any sort of rhythm; Drumree scored 6 points in the first 30 minutes mainly thanks to the place ball expertise of Steven Doyle & also Brendan Walsh & Johnny Gilsenan who tagged on impressive scores. Wolfe Tones 3 1st half points came from frees, however they had numerous chances to add this & were it not for some fine defending from Brian Kenny, Rob Lyons & Curtis Rattigan they could have increased their tally. HT Drumree 0-06 Wolfe Tones 0-03

The second half was a more open game & had some very nice passages of play. As the half wore on Drumree began to dominate & their 1st goal came after 15 mins when Kilkenny native Joe O'Brien collected the ball on the 14 yard line before shrugging off his man to slot the ball into the corner of the net, DJ-esque !

County footballer Donal Keogan was starting to come more & more into the game & was soon dictating everything good that Wolfe Tones were doing however their shooting was letting them down & they were guilty of some poor wide's in the 2nd half, on the other side Drumree were now finding their range more frequently & there was some nice points from Brendan Walsh, Darragh Walsh & that man again Joe O'Brien. The man from the marble city would put the game beyond doubt with his 2nd goal with 5 minutes left  when he was first to respond to a breaking ball on the edge of the square & drove the sliothar to the net from close range.

A good all-round performance from Drumree with the following played impressing most: Brendan Walsh, Joe O'Brien, Johnny Gilsenan & Steven Doyle.
