Boardsmill 2-7

Drumconrath qualified for the Division 5 B League Final with a win over home side Boardsmill in damp conditions on Sunday morning.

Drums got off to a good start with the 1st point of the game but Boardsmill soon took the lead with two points of their own.

Drumconrath hit 8 points in a row while wind assisted from Gavin Finnegan (2), Paddy Carolan, Conor OHalloran, Daniel Myles, Daniel Byrne (2) and Brendan Crosby to set up a commanding lead and when Daniel Byrne found the net on 23 minutes it was looking good for Drums who needed at least a draw make the top two in the table.

Boardsmill did manage the next two points but Drums added three more scores from Myles, Carolan and  O'Halloran all points but a Boardsmill goal just on the half time whistle showed the home side were up for a game and while they trailed 1-12 to 1-4 they did have the considerable breeze behind them in the second half.

The 3rd quarter belonged to the visitors but only managed 3 points with Byrne frees (2) and Finnegan also pointed and when Boardsmill hit a purple patch to score 1-3 to narrow the gap to 5.

Drumconrath weathered the storm and late points from Myles and Finnegan saw the Reds collect both points and a meeting with St Brigids in the Final a first B League Final for the North Meath men since 2000 when they won the B league Division 3 captained by Peter OHalloran.
