FL Div 1: Summerhill end Dunshaughlin's unbeaten run

July 27, 2015

Summerhill's Barry Dardis

Summerhill's good recent form continued with a win over previously unbeaten Dunshaughlin on a perfect evening for playing football on Thursday evening.

Summerhill started strongly in the AFL Division 1 against Dunshaughlin when Stephen Husband opened the scoring after 4 minutes, with a point from a great run from the half back line. This was followed by two quick points by Barry Dardis , with Dunshaughlin finding it very hard to breakdown Summerhill, in what was a high tempo game. Kevin Ryan got two points from play to push Summerhill into a four point lead.  It was all Summerhll in the first 15 mins.

After converting two points from free's, this seemed to lift Dunshaughlin, scoring three unanswered points all scored coming from the Summerhill kick-out to draw the game level at half time.

Summerhill started the second half with a quick score from Sean Dalton. This seamed to rattle Dunshaughlin with Summerhill getting into a good rhythm.  David Larkin, Barry Dardis and Paul Rispin all scored points to push Summerhill into a comfortable lead.

The game became very physical, with two of Dunshughlin's men getting yellow cards, and Summerhill's Eamon McDonnel received a black card.

Dunshaughlin last 3 points were scored from free's following some questionable referee decisions, but it was Summerhill to finish the stronger with a fantastic score from Conor Lyons to finish the match, Summerhill 0-16 Dunshaughlin 0-13.
