Castletown made it five wins out of their last 6 Division 2 league matches with this 6 point win over local rivals Rathkenny in sunny Castletown on Sunday afternoon.

The senior visitors started well with the wind advantage but failed to score in the early stages of the opening half, but  a  Shane Hoey point from play opened  Castletowns account with 2 points from Darren Finney  (1 from a free) at the 16th  minute it was 3 to 2 for the home side. On 17 minutes Castletown worked the ball well up the field with Kevin Ross to finish to the Rathkenny net and a point for James Finnerty had Castletown leading by the minimum at the half way stage 1-5 to 7 pts.

The eventual winners started the second period well and were 2-6 to 7 pts up with 35 played when a high ball in to the square caused problems for the Rathkenny defence and Tommy Smith had the last touch to score Castletowns second goal after Shane Hoey scored the opening point of the half.

With scores for Gerry Farrelly 0-2, Shane Hoey 2 more, Darren Finney 2  more 1 from a free and 1 each from Kevin Ross and Barry Smith Castletown were winners on a scoreline of 2-14 to Rathkennys 14 pts. Again Castletown scored well from play hitting 2-12  out of 2-14.
