The 2015 Cooney Cup Final will see St Pats NS, Stamullen taking on the Boys from Realt Na Mara NS after the former saw of Whitecross in an entertaining semi-final in Piltown.  St Pats where over whelming favourites to win this match but at half time you cold have been forgiven for  asking where they playing in the green and white as Whitecross NS put up a game and spirited show to lead at the break 1-3 to 1-2 with two great scores from the dominant Daniel lenehan and points each from Ciaran White and the brilliant Evan Hughes. St Pats NS opening first half scores came from Aitzol King (2) and Daragh Burns.   Whilst the first half was tight and competitive, as the 2nd half went on, Whitecross NS challenge began to tire and fade as St Pats began to dominate.

Great scores on the restart saw conversions from Daragh Burns (2) and Aitzol King (3) to see St Pats race  4 points clear.  Whitecross however posed some more questions of St Pats with two great scores from Conor Farrelly  to level up the match.   When it looked like St Pats where about to wobble, Whitecross failed to take advantage with Ciaran White missnig a straight forward and close in free before Daniel Lenehan did the same minutes later.  In what should have been a two point lead St Pats finally put the Whitecross challenge to the sword and from there to the finish kicked another 8 scores to no reply as the Whitecross challenge faded entirely at the final whistle.

This was a local Derby match and with it for 35 minutes the form book went out the window.  St Pats started very slowly and Whitecross to their credit took advantage with great play from Daniel Lenehan, Evan Hughes  and Conor Farrelly in particular putting it up to the competition favourites.  However in the end St Pats dominance grew as the game went on and their big players asserted thier influence on proceedings.   Aitzol Kind was terrific in the 2nd half as was Nathan Geraghty and Ciaran Darby.   However St Pats can thank man of the match Daragh Burns for his virtuoso display throughout at centre forward for helping get them to the final and his 1 goal and four points and general all round play was great to watch throughout.

Whitecross NS Scorers: Conor Farrelly 1-1, Daniel Lenehan 0-2, Ciaran White 0-1, Evan Hughes 0-1,

St Pats NS Scorers: Daragh Burns 1-4, Aitzol King 0-6 (2 frees), Ciaran Darby 2-0, Nathan Geraghty 0-1
