Ken Rennicks gave an exhibition that day.

On this day 40 years ago, May 18th 1975. Our boys outclassed All Ireland champions Dublin in the NFL final. Scoreline 0-16 to 1-9 and Meath's fourth title in the grade. About ten minutes into the second half roaring hot favourites Dublin led 1-9 to 0-8. Thereafter the Royals, digging deep, dominated matters and shot 8 unanswered points.

The boys in green and gold pinned the Dubs back into the Canal End. Experienced campaigners Jack Quinn and Pat Reynolds held the defence together. Under 21 stars Joe Cassells and Mick Ryan never gave Brian Mullins a sniff of things around the middle.

And the boys in blue simply had no answer to a rampant Ken Rennicks who turned in one of the greatest ever individual performances by a Meath player. A talented team of heroes who should have won much more.

The starting XV that day was. Front l-r Phil Smith, Ken Rennicks, Eamon O'Brien, PJ O'Halloran   Ronan Giles, Paddy Reynolds, Paddy Traynor. Back l-r:  Brendan Murray, Mickey Collins, Cormac Rowe, Mattie Kerrigan, Ollie O'Brien, Mick Ryan, Jack Quinn, Joe Cassells.
