Summerhill too strong.

Full Time: Summerhill 2-22 Donaghmore Ashbourne 2-10

Donaghmore Ashbourne's third team paid the price for a slow start and poor first half performance as they lost out to Summerhill in the Division 2B encounter in Summerhill on Tuesday evening.

The opening half saw Donaghmore Ashbourne struggle to get into the speed of the game and indeed they struggled to get out of defence for most of the half as the home side dominated. Things were looking bad for the visitors as the home side had registered 2-14 without reply by the 25th minute. Although Donaghmore Ashbourne looked to be heading into the interval without registering anything in Jason Plunkett's book Cian Field and Terry Bruton pointed within the 26th minute. The home side did reply with a point on 29 minutes.

Having managed to regroup and make a few positional changes at the interval Donaghmore Ashbourne gave a much better account of themselves as they played for pride. Conor McGovern pointed for Donaghmore Ashbourne with a free on 32 minutes. Summerhill did reply with a converted free on 33 minutes and points from play on 34 and 37 minutes.
Jack Touhy started a purple patch for Donaghmore Ashbourne when he broke a number of challenges and fired to the top corner of the net on 38 minutes. Colin Sullivan pointed on 39 minutes with Eoin Caffrey pointing from an acute angle on 42 minutes. Cian Field finished off the third quarter with a point from play.

The home side did reply with a brace of points early in the  final quarter but Donaghmore Ashbourne continued to eat into the deficit with a converted free from Sullivan on 47 minutes and he pointed again from play a  minute later.

Donaghmore Ashbourne scored their second goal of the evening as they turned over the home defence and with a number of close attempts Eoin Caffrey forced the ball over the line from close range on 50 minutes.  Both sides traded score in the closing stages with Sullivan pointing from a free on 52 minutes and Lorcan Nolan getting the last score for Donaghmore Ashbourne on 59 minutes.

Despite a poor first half Donaghmore Ashbourne competed much better in the second period but had too much of a gap to recover.
