St. Michaels 4-12, Summerhill 5-9.

The rising stars from St. Michaels and Summerhill could not be separated in this exciting league match in Moynalty on Sunday evening. The game ebbed and flowed in both directions throughout and it took a late goal from Sarah Bradley to secure a point for St. Michaels.

Summerhill went 1-2 in front before Rebecca Farrelly opened the St. Michaels account with a well taken goal on 14 minutes, The visitors were held scoreless for the following 12 minutes as points from Bradley 0-3, Seona Lynch 0-2 and Yvonne Farrelly put St. Michaels into a 1-6 to 1-2 lead but Summerhill rallied and finished the half the stronger registering a further 1-2 to lead by a point at the break, 2-4 to 1-6.

A well executed point from Sarah Bradley in the opening minute of the second half levelled the match for the second time. Both sides traded scores in the 3rd quarter with Bradley notching up 0-2, Sadbhe Reilly 0-1 and a brilliantly taken goal from Seona Lynch, however Summerhill still had their noses in front leading by 3-8 to 2-10 and they bagged a further 2 goals in as many minutes to stretch their lead to 7 points with 12 minutes remaining. The never say die spirit in the young St. Michaels girls then came to the fore as in a 3 minute spell another cracker of a goal from Seona Lynch and a point apiece from Emma McDonnell and Yvonne Farrelly reduced the deficit to 5 points, Summerhill went 3 points clear on 56 minutes, but two minutes later up popped top scorer on the evening Sarah Bradley with the all important goal to level the match.
