Fergus O'Rourke Snr RIP
The news of the sad passing of Fergus O'Rourke reached us on Monday afternoon. Fergus was the eldest of the famous O'Rourke footballing brothers who hailed from the south Leitrim Gaelic stronghold of Aughavas. Prior to the family moving to farm in Meath during the mid 1960s, Fergus had already established himself as an outstanding midfielder with his native county. Big and strong, in the typical O'Rourke mould, Fergus could field with and go head to head against any of the top players of his era. Fergus lined out in a Connacht senior final and won Cork senior football championships with UCC in 1963 and 64. 63 was a very eventful season for the 20 year old O'Rourke as he also gained a Leitrim SFC medal with his beloved Aughavas, a feat he repeated in 1966. In the late sixties the family threw their full weight behind the Skryne club and during one championship match, with Fergus in his usual midfield spot, no less than six O'Rourkes wore the blue of the Tara men.
Fergus was a loyal Trustee of Dunshaughlin GAA club for the last 17 years. He was treasurer of the club during the glory years of our great Senior Football Championship runs at the start of the 2000s. He was also the very successful manager, along with his great dear departed friend Neil Halpin, of the team that won the Division 1 B league in 1999 and the U21A championship in 2000 a fete he liked to brag about to the senior managers that came through the club then and since with having a 100% record in finals!! During his business life with Blanchardstown Renault he was so kind and generous to the club on many, many occasions. One can recall a wonderful trip to Mayo with the senior team to Willie Jo Padden country when he ferried the team and some stragglers there and back safely but maybe not so soundly. Fergus will be remembered most for his dry wit which he would regale you with for hours. One of his famous quips was when he was asked was he Colm's brother to w hich he answered " No Colm is my Brother".   Fergus was a gentle giant and was loved by many and will be sorely missed and be forever in our hearts. To  Fergus' wife Aidie and to Tiernan, Brian, Breffni and Fergus Jnr and the extended O'Rourke family we extend our deepest condolences. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam.  Leitrim Abu.

Phyllis Smith RIP
We would like to express out deepest sympathy to the Smith and O'Sullivan family on the passing of Phyllis.

Mass for Neil Halpin RIP
There will be Mass for the late Neil Halpin on Saturday April 25th at 10am in Dunshaughlin Church
