County Committee vice-chairman and CCC chairman Peter O'Halloran reported at Monday night's meeting that most of the first round games in the football championships took place over the weekend.

Three games were lost to the weather and others had to be postponed because of bereavements. Fixtures secretary Jimmy Henry was praised for his efforts in contacting clubs and referees with some games having to be switched from one venue to another.

Wolfe Tones delegate Philip O'Brien was critical of the fact that some young footballers playing for the Meath minors next Saturday will be expected to line out for their clubs in championship games the following day.

Peter O'Halloran said this problem seems to crop up every year. "There's a letter in and we'll have a look at it," he added.
