This Rd 2 of the Hurling League was a vital game for Dunderry after defeat to Drumree in Rd1 they needed a win to get momentum going.

Clan na nGael coming off a victory in Rd1 started well opening the scoring in the 1st minute with a point but Dunderry replied in the 4th minute when Conor O'Shea found Christopher Harrington on the edge of the square he held off his marker to score a fine point. This was followed with David Gilkeson continuing from where he left off last year scoring 2 points from free's. In the 10th minute John Moran at full forward was causing the home defence problems with his strength holding up play for on coming attackers fired in a well taken goal. Luke Martyn and Liam Dempsey were superb in midfield and after a positional swap between Davy Stephens and Conor Dempsey the defence seemed to be dealing with what ever the home side did. But in the 18th minute Clanna nGael hit the net but this only pushed the visitor's more and points from Martyn, Gilkeson (2), Alex Walsh and a point from Jordan Martin the score of the game then on the stroke of half time Conor Farrell found the net leaving the score 1-5 to 2-8 at the break.

2nd half saw Gilkeson score 2 quick points the half back line of Conor Dempsey, O'Shea and Mickey Dowdall were brilliant along with the back line of Stephens, Brendan Wright and Cathal Ryan controlled anything that came in. Dowdall operating as the spare man intercepted a loose pass fed Liam Dempsey in the middle he ran at the defence and powerfully shot for goal produced a fine save from the keeper but Walsh was alert to the loose ball and fired it into the net. Clan na nGael came again and got 2 late goals but Dunderry held on to win and give Paddy Gorey's charges their first points. Walsh, Dowdall and Aron Feeney put in fine performances considering they had played some point in the Leinster M.H.L. game earlier in the day against Kerry.
