Clann Na nGael's Ciaran Fitzsimons

Trim 1-8
Clann na nGael 0-10

A speculative lob in to the Clann na nGael square after 30 seconds that was punched to the net was the differance in the end between Clann na nGael and Trim in this first round Corn na Boinne cup fixture played in Trim on Sunday.

The Home side led 1-6 to 0-4 at half time having played with a strong wind.

Clann na nGael fought hard in the second half to peg the score back and had narrowed the gap to 2 points with 10 minutes left. However they found scores hard to come by as Trim fought to hold on. A point from Martin Keogh two minutes from time left only a point between the sides and when Anthony Swaine broke from the wing it looked like extra time was on the cards. However a Trim player some how managed to get a hand on the ball and as Ref Peter Sheridan blew the final whistle the chance had gone.
