Darren Kavanagh in action for St Cuthberts

Bohermeen's Darren Kavanagh has become the latest Meath gaelic footballer to play international soccer for Ireland. Kavanagh has been selected on the Ireland Under 18 soccer squad for the upcoming friendly matches with Wales next week.

The St Ultans clubman has shown brilliant form with his club Parkvilla, netting over 120 goals in the past five seasons.

The Kavanagh family is steeped in the GAA. Darren captained St Cuthberts to an Under 16 Summer Shield title in 2013 and has since progressed to the St Ultans senior squad. His father Patrick has managed  St Cuthberts teams from Under 12 up. Uncle John represented Meath at Junior level and is currently Minor Board Chairman. His grandad Paddy refereed the 1985 All Ireland final between Kerry and Dublin along with numerous Meath club finals.

Paul Osam's squad will meet Wales on Monday, February 23, at New Bridge Meadow Stadium, Haverfordwest (7.30pm) and again the following day at Genquip Stadium, Port Talbot (3.00pm).
