The sub committees of the Meath County Committee which were ratified at Monday night's meeting contained some surprises, notably the absence of former secretary and chairman Barney Allen from any of the committees.

The Rathkenny man was not included on this year's CCC committee.

The omission prompted St Michael's delegate Pete Cassidy to suggest that in view of Allen's long service during which he was assistant-secretary, secretary and chairman of the board, that he be co-opted on to one of the committees.

Chairman Conor Tormey said that Allen was offered a position on one of the committees but declined. He added that the CCC was restricted to eight members, the chairman and secretary and six others, and those had been appointed.

"It is sad that a man who has given 36 years service does not seem to be wanted any more," said Cassidy.
