Lá le Stiofán in Rathcairn remembers Stiofán O'Mealóid

December 19, 2014

Aaron Ennis raises the Stiofan O'Mealoid Cup at Pairc Tailteann. How fitting it was that Clann Na nGael became the first winners of this fine cup when defeating St Ultans in this years Under 21 B FC final at Pairc Tailteann

On St Stephens day, Lá le Stiofán, Clann na nGael's  footballers will play host to Dunderry in an U21 challange to commemorate Stiofán ó Mealóid in what has now become an annual event.

Stiofán passed away in tragic circumstances and while he played nearly all his football with Clann na nGael he lined out for Dunderry in his early career.

If you want to get out and about on lá le Stiofan and would like to sample some Gaelic games why not pop down to Rathcairn at 2.30 and watch what has in the past few years been a very competitive challange match.

There will be refreshments and a bit of Ceol agus craic in Aras Pobail afterwards.

In Rathcairn December 26th at 2.30: Clann na nGael u21 v Dunderry u21
