In his role as Youth Ambassador for AIB, Colm 'Gooch' Cooper is visiting St Ciarans Community School on Wednesday the 3rd of December, promoting financial education among students in a fun and interactive manner.

He will hold a coaching session with the students and afterwards he offer his support and advice for students involved in AIB's Build a Bank Challenge.

The AIB Build a Bank Challenge is well underway in secondary schools across Ireland, with over 200 schools signed up for this year's competition. Students set up and manage their own school bank, with the support of AIB staff and they are responsible for sourcing new customers, opening AIB accounts, encouraging regular savings and exploring new ways to bank, such as AIB Phone & Internet Banking.

The regional finals take place in March 2014 with the top 4 winning schools from each Regional Final qualifying for the National Final in April 2014, which will be held in the RDS, Dublin. At the national final the schools will be expected to recreate their exhibition and presentation from the regional finals on a national stage. The panel of judges look for students to present their experience of running their school bank, to show how they operated together as a team and for the students to demonstrate their own personal development from the Challenge.

Colm Cooper AIB Youth Ambassador said:
"The AIB Build a Bank Challenge is a fun, rewarding and enjoyable project for students to take part in. I am amazed at the hard-work, effort and creativity that the students put into their banks and provides very stiff rivalry among the schools in each locality. My advice to the students is to be creative with their bank, make full use of new ways to market their bank through social media tools and most importantly have fun.
