Camogie: Ratoath continue winning ways

October 14, 2014

Ratoath 4-7

Kildalkey 3-5

Our Senior Camogie team continued their winning ways in the Division 2 league with a thrilling win against Kildalkey. This is their 5th win in the league so having gone out in the semi-final of the Championship to Kilmessan our girls will be putting everything into this campaign. This game was a compelling match from start to finish. Amy Gaffney started Ratoath's scoring with a point from play. Kildalkey soon levelled the game with a point of their own. Ratoath went on to dominate the first half with goals from Adrienne McCann and Karen McCabe and a further two points from Amy Gaffney. At half time Ratoath had a 5 point lead with the score at 2 - 3 to 0 - 4.

The second half started with the same intensity and Aishling O'Brien found the net early into the half. The game continued at pace and at no time could Ratoath take their foot off the gas. At one point Ratoath had a 3 goal advantage but Kildalkey fought on and brought the game to a goal difference. This was when the girls raised their game even further and Adrienne McCann went on to score a further goal from distance. Anna Fagan added her name to the score sheet scoring the last point of the match. The final score was 4 - 7 to 3 - 5 in Ratoath's favour. This was one of Ratoath's strongest performances this year with every player stepping up to the plate. Every player gave 100% and then some more. The game ebbed and flowed for 60 minutes and was a pleasure to watch.
