Meath camogie player of the decade

Former Meath star Aileen Donnelly.

Kilmessan's Aileen Donnelly has recently been awarded Meath's camogie player of the decade.

As part of the camogie association's 110 year anniversary, 24 players from different counties were awarded the outstanding player of their individual county over the last 10years at both club and county level. The award was chosen based on nominations from clubs in the county. Other notable recipients were Therese Maher of Galway & Kate Kelly of Wexford.

Aileen received her award at a ceremony during last Sundays all ireland  camogie finals (pictured above with Galway star Joe Canning), she also received an award from Meath county board after Kilmessan's most recent championship camogie match (pictured above with county board chairperson Martin Henegan)

Aileen has won numerous accolades in her playing career including 11 senior club championship titles with Kilmessan, Leinster junior club championship, 2 London championships with Croydon, she was Meath's first ever all-star nominee in 2007 and she captained Meath to all Ireland success in 2008 and received a soaring star award for her efforts with Meath's all Ireland  win in 2012. Although she has now retired from the county scene, she continues for Kilmessan and remains a driving force in their attack.
