Slane GFC club notes

September 08, 2014

Disappointment for Bru Na Boinne in the Under 17 final.

Junior B Championship
A great year for the Slane Junior team came to an end on Saturday night in Skryne with a narrow two point defeat in the Junior B quarter final against Seneschalstown. The club would like to thank Keith Harding and his selectors for all the work they have put into the team this year. An excellent squad of players has come together and they have worked very hard to get the club back on the up. Looking Forward to 2015.

U17 League Final
Bru na Boinne 1-12    Seneschalstown  2-9
The club are immensely proud of the mentors and all of the U17 squad for their tremendous performance and attitude during the final on Wednesday night. While it is very hard to take a one point defeat after extra time they should be very proud as the game was an excellent advertisement of GAA skills. The team performed right to the very end and represented their club and parish with great pride. There was no hiding at the end of the match and this was evident as it could be clearly seen what it meant to each and every one of the lads. It was brilliant to see such huge numbers from Slane at the match and this made it special and was very much appreciated by the Team.

U13 League
Slane started their u13 championship with a win over Ballivor in Slane on Sunday the 7th of September, winning on a 6-21 to 5-8 scoreline.
Slane led from the start in this one and although not a vintage performance (this was their first game together) they did enough to suggest that there might be more to come.

David Reilly impressed with three composed points early on while Captain David Woodward and Adam Canning were very active in winning ball and providing ammunition early on for Jonathan McDonagh and Sean Martyn.

Next up is Dunderry away next Sunday morning where a stiffer challenge will be provided.

The u13 championship runs in September & October with the final scheduled for October 19th.
