Simonstown will contest the 2014 Intermediate ladies football championship final after they recorded a comprehensive victory over St. Michaels in the semi-final in Simonstown on Monday evening last.

A ruthless burst of scoring in the opening quarter severely deflated the St. Michaels challenge and saw Simonstown take a commanding 2-7 to 0-0 lead. St. Michaels steadied the ship somewhat and eventually got on the score sheet on 16 minutes with a point from Sinéad McCormack, the same player converted a free four minutes later but by that stage the home side had registered their third goal of the match which was soon followed by their 8th point. Marion Farrelly sent over her sides final point of the half on 29 minutes to leave the scoreline 3-8 to 0-3 in favour of Simonstown at the interval.

Straight from the re-start Simonstown seemed to have settled back into a familiar stride recording 1-1 in a six minute spell, St. Michaels to their credit took the game to Simonstown and dominated the next 12 minutes of play but their downfall came in front of the posts as they miss-fired on numerous occasions but they still managed to register 1-3 without reply with points coming from Patricia Owens, Sinéad McCormack, Aisleen Regan and a well executed goal from Alicia Curtis to leave it 1-6 to 4-9 but the much stronger and shrewder Simonstown outfit got back on track and fired home a further 4 points to complete a good evenings work. Patricia Owens added the final score of the match when she found the back of the net in the first minute of injury time. Áine Sheridan, Alicia Curtis, Sinéad McCormack, Megan O'Brien, Hayley Doyle and Marion Farrelly showed up well for St. Michaels.
