The passing of Marty Sheridan has caused widespread sadness in Kilmessan.

A post on Kilmessan Camogie club's facebook page reads: "Kilmessan camogie club are deeply saddened by the passing of Marty Sheridan, Father to 7 talented camogiers/hurler and footballers. MaryEllen, Noreen, Claire, Aine, Treasa, Brid and Martin.

"Deepest sympathies are extended to his loving wife Mary and the Sheridan family at this sad time. May he rest in peace.

"Funeral mass is on Tuesday 19th morning @11.30 am."

Meath Ladies County Board also expressed their sympathy: "Meath Ladies County Board would like to extend it's sympathies to the Sheridan family in Kilmessan on the sad passing of Marty.

"Our condolences to his wife Mary and his son and daughters - all dedicated football and camogie/hurling players.
