BFL5: Curraha secure final spot
July 29, 2014
Curraha 1-13
Skryne 1-10
Curraha's second string gained promotion and a final berth with this hard earned win over neighbours Skryne played in lovely conditions on Wednesday evening.
The home side started brightly with David Dunne raising the white flag twice in the opening couple of minutes, Skryne responded with two points before Curraha forged ahead with some well taken points and a goal from Padraic O'Hanrhan to lead by six approaching the break. Two more points from the visitors cut the deficit to four at half time.
A goal from the Tara men two minutes after the restart left only the minimum between the sides but points from Dunne, two, and Cosgrave restored Curraha's four point advantage but once again Skryne responded to reduce the gap to one, three points from Dunne gave Curraha some breathing space as they defended heroically in the final minutes and with a brilliant point blank save from veteran goalkeeper Declan Hanley they held out for a deserved victory.
Best for Curraha were, Conor Joyce, Phelim Dowling, Locky Keogh, David Dunne and Brendan Doyle.
