AFL3: Third straight win for Drumconrath

July 20, 2014
Drumconrath 1-12
Ballivor 0-11

Drumconrath don't like easy and that's for sure, after 7 straight losses in the A League followed by a draw and now this victory has made it 3 wins in a row but still we are not certain sure of avoiding Relegation and must get a result in the last round game next Sunday.

If Syddan beat Ballivor then Drums will be safe but they will need to be sure themselves and must gather at least a point in Bective as the drop to Division 4 would be regarded as disaster for the men in Red.

Drumconrath took the game to Ballivor, notorious poor travelers in the League, who have a good chance of being in the shake up for the Intermediate Championship this year with Stephan Crosby leading from the front pointing in the 1st minute, Gavin Finnegan added another a minute later and then Crosby scored a fine goal to give Drums a 1-2 to 0-0 lead after 3 minutes.

Ballivor steadily got into the game and by half time had mustered a tally of 8 points while Graham Tighe, Chris Tighe and Finnegan ensured that the sides went in level at the break 1-5 to 0-8.

Drumconrath roared on by an enthusiastic following had the better of the 2nd half and outscored the visitors by 7 points to 3 with Eoin Martin getting the first followed by points from Jamie Myles (3), Stephan Crosby (2) and Alan Byrne.

Crosby and Myles where stars for Drumconrath who while qualified in the Championship, in contrast to the League where each and the last 4 games can be considered as Knock Out games with the biggest game of the year to come at High Noon on Sunday 27th.

Would you bet against them....... I wouldn't.....
