July 18, 2014

Na Fianna's Sean Griffin
Na Fianna 1-08
St Patricks 1-13

An experienced St Patrick's side saw off the challenge of a youthful Na Fianna side in Skyrne on Thursday.

The first half was a tight affair where Na Fianna looked the more threatening side for the opening twenty minutes, taking a 0-6 to 0-2 lead. A strong finish to the half saw St Pats take a 0-7 to 0-6 half time lead. Na Fianna scored some excellent points in this half, with Damien Downey and Paul Kennedy opening the scoring with two fine long range efforts. Andrew Glynn caused lots of problem and he helped himself to two points also. Richie Massey capped a fine first half display scoring two excellent points to complete the first half tally.

Na Fianna had a good start after half time, with Sean Griffin scrambling the ball to the net to put Na Fianna back in front. He followed up with a point while Jamie McCormack strode up from the back and took a fine score. However, Na Fianna could not contain their industrious opponents who turned the screw and went on to secure the semi final place.
