Ladies: Blackhall lose to Simonstown

July 17, 2014

Blackhall Gaels Emer Keane
Blackhall Gaels 1-4
Simonstown 4-15

Simonstown have put a stop to Blackhall's winning ways after a very impressive display of football on Monday night in Simonstown.

The Blackhall ladies put in a spirited performance and kept battling until the final whistle. Although Simonstown were in the driving seat for the majority of the match, Blackhall's Jane and Claire Burke, Paula Dunne, Michelle Dalton and Sarah O'Keane defended superbly throughout the game. When Blackhall managed to move the ball up the field Suzanne and Lisa Kelly worked brilliantly together and had some excellent passages of play including some great runs from Rose O'Donnell and Fran Nolan. Ann Murphy was pushed up the field and stopped numerous Simonstown attacks throughout the game.

The score at half time did not fully reflect the level of intensity at 2-7 to 0-2 in favour of the home crowd. The second half saw Blackhall use all five subs and included a late comeback with a beautifully worked goal scored by Ann Murphy. Unfortunately by then the Simonstown were too far infront and ran out clear winners with a score of 4-15 to 1-4.
